***Embrionix introduces the first eye monitoring product in SFP form factor 2012-11-27

Laval, Canada, November 27, 2012 — Embrionix, manufacturer of the emSFP, has announced the introductory release of the emPROBE series, and the first eye monitoring SMPTE SDI product in a SFP form factor.  The coaxial, fiber, and hybrid emSFP modules will incorporate Eye diagram and Jitter monitoring for both inputs and outputs.  This allows end users equipment to leverage time saving quality control methods, by facilitating remote diagnostic, and system debug capabilities.  With the large adoption of the coaxial, optical, and hybrid modules, as well as the emSFP converter series (CVBS, HDMI, DVI), the emPROBE system diagnostics are the latest addition to the Embrionix product family.

‘The Eye Monitoring enables the SFP to look only at the signal, before any degradation is introduced. The use of the emPROBE series at the I/O edge of any product ensures that the signal is always the highest quality,’ said Renaud Lavoie, CEO of Embrionix.

‘This emSFP gives the end-user a clear inspection, in real-time, the health of the signal at any point, in any chain, for any system. This allows them to take action before becoming critical, ensuring high on-air QoS, and minimal downtime.”

The following emPROBE monitoring feature-set is available for fiber, hybrid and coaxial SMPTE VIDEO SFP series. Interrogation On Demand (IOD) technology checks signal status only when requested.  This minimizes data traffic on host platforms I2C lines.
Features include:

• On-chip sampling oscilloscope probe

• Eye diagram

• Rise & Fall time

• Jitter measurement

• Real-time Eye diagram related warnings and alarms

• Digital diagnostic monitoring

• All monitoring and control via I2C

• ROHS compliant
