***Embrionix simplifies the UHD-SDI video transport with 2 new product lines for NAB2013 - 2013-04-06

Laval, Quebec ( April 5, 2013) — Embrionix, manufacturer of the emSFP is proud to announced the creation of 2 new product lines to support the UHD-SDI interface. The new line of modules will enable the use of OEM designs utilizing SFP cages, to reach higher bandwidth, faster, and more efficiently.
“4K (UHD-SDI) transport is most commonly done by combining 4 x 3G-SDI signal paths. Embrionix proposes a new approach based on our emSFPTM dual link 6G-SDI modules.  This will minimize the number of cables and fibers, plus double the bandwidth capacity per wavelength.  At 6Gbps per channel, CWDM allows for 8 x 4K on 1 fiber”, said Sarkis Abrahamian, VP business development at Embrionix. 

“The higher bandwidth required to transport 4K, and soon 8K, push the total bit rates to 11.88Gbps and 23.76Gbps respectively.  Coaxial connectivity will limit performance and distance at these data rates, meaning a clear path for full fiber connectivity is an absolute requirement” Sarkis added.  With the steady increase of bandwidth requirements in production, media, and telecom industries, fiber will continue to be the transport medium of choice for higher data rate signals and services. Based on the customer requirements, emSFP modules can be simply switched for a different interface or application.
The EB59xx 6Gbs coaxial series is available now for testing in transceiver, dual receiver, and dual transmitter configurations.
