J2K decoder SFP (J2K SFP)
Laval, Quebec (March 11th, 2015) — Embrionix, the worldwide leader in advanced SFP (small form factor pluggable) and emSFP development, is announcing the first J2K SFP decoder. Embrionix will demonstrate the new JPEG2000 (J2K) decoder for broadcast video applications at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, April 13-16, 2015 at booth N1617, showcasing the flexibility and power of the latest emSFP platforms.
A working demo and more information will be shown at the Embrionix booth during NAB 2015 (N1617), showcasing the flexibility and power of the latest emSFP platforms.
“The J2K decoder SFP is a breakthrough in miniaturization, which the broadcast and telecommunication industries can greatly benefit from,” said Sarkis Abrahamian, VP of Business Development at Embrionix. “Embrionix has focused its expertise and development to release the industry’s smallest J2K decoder in a footprint of 1cm x 3cm. This is a first in SFP technology history, as well as a first in our industry. The path for advanced processing and greater feature-set was the natural progression. The release of the J2K decoder marks the direction we are heading towards: more power, more processing and more flexibility maintained in the SFP and SFP+ form factor.” added Abrahamian.
The new J2K SFPs are aimed at broadcast manufacturers who are designing and selling IP switches, video routers and processing cards. They are also developed with the broadcasters in mind to simplify their IP studio deployments using their existing equipment as the host to these new SFPs.
“Our customers can get ahead of their competition by using our J2K SFPs to get their products to market faster and be completely SMPTE compliant right out of the gate,” said Renaud Lavoie, CEO of Embrionix. Broadcasters can now integrate this technology into all of their current SDI and IP products without a major cost investment.
Embrionix is showcasing its new J2K (JPEG2000) SFP technology in the North hall, NAB booth 1617, located within the Cisco pavilion (CM IP). As well, Embrionix will have a presence in more than 40+ booths at NAB this year, demonstrating the flexibility and possibilities around SFP and emSFP modules.
